Artificial intelligence laboratory OpenAI has announced a major interface redesign for ChatGPT, introducing dynamic, interactive visual components alongside the global rollout of its new GPT-6 model.

The new feature, termed “Intelligent UI,” marks a transition from the chatbot’s traditional text-dominated responses. Instead of static images or standard text paragraphs, the updated interface generates interactive elements directly within user chats, including tappable buttons, customized calculators, editable graphs, and responsive diagrams.

According to OpenAI, the core goal of the redesign is to simplify complex educational concepts and streamline daily task planning.

“ChatGPT has predominantly been a text-based interface,” said OpenAI Product Manager Aarush Selvan during a product demonstration. “To help users get things done — from everyday things like planning a recipe or a trip or even trying to learn something — the most helpful answers aren’t just text.”

Demonstrated use cases included interactive diagrams illustrating aerodynamic lift for aviation studies, customized personal finance calculators, mechanical guides, and interactive travel maps for multi-day excursions.

The company confirmed that the feature is fully customizable, allowing users who prefer traditional text responses to dial back or disable visual frequency in their account settings.

The Intelligent UI interface is rolling out globally for ChatGPT Pro, Plus, Business, and Enterprise subscribers, with access expanding to free and lower-cost “Go” tier users on Thursday.
